CEM, Chakma Council Celebrated Chakma National Day with the Chakmas of Myanmar

Kamalanagar, 14 January 2016: Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya, Chief Executive Member, Chakma Autonomous District Council has arrived yesterday from his visit to the Chakmas of Myanmar. He was invited to grace the celebration of the Chakma National Day on 7th January 2016 as its Chief Guest organized at Randaw of Arakan State of Myanmar. The Day is celebrated by the Chakmas of Myanmar every year. It was for the first time, ever any Chakmas of India was invited to the celebration of the Day. Continue reading

Kamalanagar, 6 December 2015: Dangu Indralal Chakma a Member of Chakma Autonomous District Council breathed his last on 01/12/2015 at Indraprastha Appolo Hospital, Delhi after a long drawn fight with lung cancer. His mortal remains were brought back from Delhi on Saturday and cremated on the day itself.

He was elected to the 9th Chakma Autonomous District Council from 10-Mondirasora MDC constituency with MNF party ticket during the last MDC general Election held on 17/04/2013. Continue reading

CADC Full Budget Passed; CADC (Employees Pension Fund) Rules, 2015 Referred to Select Committee

Kamalanagar, 16 November: The CADC Full Budget 2015-16 was discussed and passed today in the third sitting of the Winter Session. The Budget was introduced in the first sitting of the Session held last Thursday by the House leader Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchagya, CEM, CADC.

The budget was earmarked by the state government for an amount of Rs.3860.00 Lakh under Non-plan and Rs.1921.33 Lakh under Plan as Normal Grant-in-aid. The projected Local Receipts is Rs.83.55 Lakh. The estimated expenditure of the Budget is Rs.4640.77 Lakh under Non-plan, Rs.2218.94 Lakh under Plan and Rs.83.55 under Local Receipt Fund which sums up to Rs.6943.26. Under the given circumstances there is a net budget deficit of Rs.1078.38 Lakh; Rs.780.77 Lakh under Non-plan and Rs.297.61 Lakh under Plan. The Budget deficit is hoped to be met out of Additional Grant on the approval of Revised Estimate 2015-16 in the later part of the fiscal year. Continue reading

Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya, CEM, CADC Meets the Chief Minister

Aizawl, 2 November 2015: Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya, CEM, CADC today met the Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla. This was his first meeting with the Chief Minister after he was sworn in as Chief Executive Member of Chakma Autonomous District Council.

Dangu Chitra Kumar Chakma, Executive Member and Dangu Bubon Kumar Chakma, MDC accompanied the CEM. The meeting has been very successful, said the CEM. Continue reading

Three Executive Members of Chakma Council Sworn-in

Kamalanagar, 26 October, 2015: Dangu Amarsmriti Chakma, MDC, Dangu Chitra Kumar Chakma, MDC and Dangu Susen Chakma, MDC were today sworn-in as Executive Member of Chakma Autonomous District Council. Pu Lalzidinga Ralte, SDO(C), Chawngte who was entrusted by Deputy Commissioner, Lawngtlai District administered the oath of office and secrecy.

Recommendation for appointment as Executive Members for the three MDCs was made to His Excellency the Governor of Mizoram on 5/10/2015 and approval was issued on 20/10/2015. Continue reading

Dayal Chandra Chakma Elected New Chairman of Chakma ADC

Kamalanagar, 20 October, 2015: Dangu Dayal Chandra Chakma was elected today uncontested as Chairman, Chakma Autonomous District Council. The office of the Chairman was rendered vacant following the resignation tendered by Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya on 21 September 2015. His resignation was accepted on 25 September 2015 by His Excellency the Governor of Mizoram. Continue reading

Kali Kumar Tongchangya Appointed as New Chief Executive Member, CADC

Kamalanagar, 28 September, 2015: Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya who has resigned from the office of Chairman, Chakma Autonomous District Council on 21/9/2015 has been appointed today as the Chief Executive Member, Chakma Autonomous District Council. This will be his second stint as CEM, CADC.

CADC Celebrated 69th Independence Day

Kamalanagar, 15 August, 2015: The 69th Independence Day was celebrated at Kamalanagar, the headquarter of Chakma Autonomous District Council. Dangu Dr. B. D. Chakma, Minister of State graced the official celebration programme held at Kamalanagar football playground as its chief guest.

The national flag was unfurled at about 10 am to the chorus chanting of the national anthem.

44th CADC Day Celebrated

Kamalanagar, April 29, 2015: Chakma Autonomous District Council completes 43 years today. In the year 1972, on this momentous day, the Chakmas living along a narrow strip of south western part of Mizoram within the then Pwi-Lakher Regional Council were put under an autonomous district council under the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India to allow them to safeguard and promote their distinct ethnic and cultural identity. However, an equal number of Chakma population remained outside the ambit of the Council to the north western part of Mizoram.

Total Literacy Drive Programme Launched at Kamalanagar, CADC

Kamalanagar, April 22, 2015: Lawngtlai District one of the three targeted districts for total literacy drive had its Total Literacy Drive Launching Programme organized today at Kamalanagar, the Headquarter of Chakma Autonomous District Council. The Programme was organized by Lawngtlai District Working Committee on Literacy Drive whose chairman is District Education Officer, Lawngtlai.
