CADC Executed The Agreement Signed With The NGOs; NGOs Protest Is Politically Motivated

Kamalanagar, 29 September 2016: The procession taken out on 27/9/2016 by the Joint NGOs comprising of Young Chakma Association and Mizoram Chakma Student Union against alleged non-fulfillment of the agreement signed between the NGOs and CADC authority is purely motivated by political interest.

CADC has executed the agreement fully. All the appointments except one as per the agreement signed between the Joint NGOs (YCA and MCSU(C)) have been terminated. The one whose service has not been terminated was found to be not falling within the period of appointments that the NGOs made their demand for termination. Continue reading

Kamalanagar, 24 September 2016: The Gauhati High Court Aizawl Bench, in its Judgment dated 31.08.2016 over the W.P.(C) No.109 of 2015, while dismissing the writ petition filed by the BJP Village Council members of Baganpara on the ground that there was no challenge to the Chakma Autonomous District Council (Village Council) Act 2003 expressed opinion that the concerned authority should have a re-look into the provision of the CADC (Village Council) Act, 2003 with regards to the voting rights of the Nominated Members for election /selection of the President/Vice-President of the Village Councils. CEMs of Three Autonomous Councils Met Chief Minister

Kamalanagar, 8 September 2016: The Chief Executive Members of the Chakma, Lai and Mara Autonomous District Councils met the Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla on his arrival from Kolkata who attended a programme on the canonization of Mother Teresa.

The 3 CEMs Dg. Kali Kumar Tongchangya, CADC, Pu. Zachono, MADC and Pu. VL Hmuaka, LADC submitted a joint petition regarding review of the position of the Chief Executive Member, Chairman, Executive Member and Members of the Autonomous District Council in the table of precedence for maintenance of protocol. They also took up the matter of funding system in respect of the Autonomous District Councils. Funds to the ADCs are now sanctioned on monthly installment basis instead of installments in every four months.

The Salary deficit for the month of March in the last financial year was also raised with the Chief Minister.

District Child Protection Officer In Kamalanagar To Form the VLCPC

Kamalanagar, 26 August 2016: The District Child Protection Officer, Lawngtlai District Miss Mary Lalremruati is in Kamalanagar with her subordinate staff for a week long programme to form the Village Level Child Protection Committees (VLCPC). So far the VLCPCs of Kamalanagar-II, Chawngte-P and Saizawh-W have been formed. The VLCPCs of Kamalanagar-III and Kamalanagar-IV will be formed today. Continue reading

70th Independence Day Celebrated in Kamalanagar

Kamalanagar 15 August 2016: Dr. Buddha Dhan Chakma, Minister of State graced the official celebration programme of 70th Independence Day at Kamalanagar as its chief guest. Thousands of people poured in from all around Kamalanagar and nearby villages to witness the programme held at Kamalanagar football playground.

As many as 18 parade contingents represented by different schools and CRPF Battalion participated in the ceremonial march past. Dr. B. D. Chakma observed the ceremonial inspection of all the parade contingents. Udaygiri Higher Secondary School and Public School, Kamalanagar were adjudged first and second in the March Past. Indo-Bangla Border Fencing Compensation To Be Disbursed

Kamalanagar, August 7, 2016: Compensation to victims affected by Indo-Bangla Border Fencing in CADC area will be disbursed from SDO Office, Chawnte RD Block from 12 September 2016 to 16 September 2016 and on 19 September 2016 as per schedule given below:

Compensation for a total amount of Rs.15.93 Crore will be disbursed. All payment will be done through cheque only. The SDO (Civil), Chawngte Pu Lalfakzuala in a notification prescribed some terms and condition for release of the compensation amount to the victims as given under. Continue reading

CADC Monsoon Session Starts

Kamalanagar, 25 July 2016: The Chakma Autonomous District Council in its first sitting of the Monsoon Session today tabled five Bills namely CADC (Money Lending & Control) regulation, 2016, CADC (Administration of Justice) Rules, 2016, CADC (Employees Pension Fund) Fund Rules, 2015, CADC (Recruitment) Rules, 2016 and CADC (Village Council) (Amendment) Act, 2016. CEM, CADC Attends MSDP Meeting

Lawngtlai, 20 July 2016: The CEM, CADC Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya attended the meeting on Multi Sectoral Development Programme (MSDP) in Lawngtlai called by the DC, Lawngtlai.

The work proposals under MSDP for the year 2016-17 were discussed. A number of transformers have been proposed for different parts of Kamalanagar town area besides construction of schools, construction of student hostels at Longpuighat and Community Internet Centre at Kamalanagar. The transformers have been proposed to address the problem of low voltage.

On the sideline the pending bill to make compensation to victims of IBBF was taken up by the CEM, CADC. The DC expressed hope that the bill will soon get sanctioned. It was learnt that the DC is likely to meet the Home Secretary to Govt. of India who will be visiting Aizawl soon and it is being hoped that the matter of IBBF compensation might get raised.

Kamalanagar Town Bus Service Inaugurated

Kamalanagar, 16 July 2016: The much talked about Kamalanagar town bus service was finally kicked off by Dg. Kali Kumar Tongchangya, CEM, CADC from the premises of CADC secretariat.

The CEM and his colleague MDCs including officials and public took a first ride around the town to mark the inauguration of the service. The CEM while speaking on the occasion said the service will benefits all section of the people especially school and college going students.

“The parents shall be relieved of hefty taxi fare that gets incurred while dropping their children to schools and commuting between bazaar and home. Life for office goers who come from far corners of the town will be easy as well.” The two buses have been procured with fund provision from NITI Ayog.

CEM, CADC Met Chief Manager, SBI Regional Office, Aizawl

 Kamalanagar, 14 July 2016: The CEM, CADC Dg. Kali Kumar Tongchangya met the Chief Manager, SBI Regional Office regarding the deplorable services of the SBI Branch, Chawngte.

The Chief Manager confirmed about the letter from CADC wherein various issues relating to the services provided by their Branch at Kamalanagar were raised for redress. He informed that on receipt of the letter he proceeded for Kamalanagar but had to return from Mualbu where his vehicle got stuck in the mud. He said he felt very sorry that he almost reached Kamalanagar but yet he did not make it because of the road condition. The CEM was told that all the point raised in the letter were seriously taken and accordingly measures have been initiated. He asked to report again if services don’t get improved. Continue reading
