In pursuance of information received regarding a severe measles outbreak in Bangladesh reporting numerous confirmed cases since March 2026 , and in light of media reports highlighting over 100 child deaths, and as the CADC area in Lawngtlai District, Mizoram, shares an international border with Bangladesh, the situation is deemed alarming. The following instructions are hereby issued for strict compliance to ensure vigilance in the identification and reporting of suspected cases:
Directives for School Education Department
The Education Officer (MS/PS) shall ensure the following actions are implemented through school authorities:
- Immediate Reporting: Any child or person identified with fever and rash must be reported immediately to the nearest Health Facility.
- Inter-Departmental Coordination: Maintain close coordination with the Health Department and WHO Consultant for timely investigation.
- Infection Prevention: Teachers and Anganwadi Workers must be sensitized to identify symptoms and maintain daily vigilance for early identification.
Directives for Village Councils
The Local Administration Officer is directed to undertake intensive public awareness activities through all Village Councils:
- Symptom Awareness: Disseminate information regarding the symptoms of measles (fever with rash) and the critical importance of early reporting.
- Isolation Protocols: Communities must be advised to avoid sending symptomatic children to schools and to maintain isolation until full recovery is achieved.
- Public Outreach: Utilize the Village Crier for wide and effective dissemination of these safety protocols.
- Community Mobilization: Provide necessary support to the Health Department and WHO Consultant in risk communication.
Reporting and Compliance
- Mandatory Notification: All cases involving fever with rash, across any age group, shall be reported immediately to health authorities without exception.
- Strict Compliance: This notification is issued for favour of information and further necessary action by all concerned departments.
