CADC felicitates outstanding sportspersons

Kamalanagar, February 15, 2018: Chakma Autonomous District Council felicitated Sri Prithvi Chakma and Manarsuk Chakma for excellence in the field of sports at International, National and State level in a programme organized by Youth and Sports Services Department, CADC.

Prithvi Chakma, son of Dg. Amarsmriti Chakma is a martial artist. He has won gold medals at various National and International Taekwondo championship tournaments. So far to his credit he has 2 Gold and 2 Bronze.
While Manarsuk Chakma son of a driver (Prem Kumar Chakma) is a boxer of junior category in Mizoram. He has played at various district and state level championship within the state of Mizoram and so far won 5 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.

Prithvi and Manarsuk were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and cheques of Rs. 1,00,000/- and Rs.30,000/- respectively.
Dg. Amit Kumar Chakma, CEM, CADC who graced the occasion as Chief Guest said that the two sportsperson are an example how status of minority is not any hurdle to excel in any field.

Dr. B.D. Chakma, local MLA while speaking urged to facilitate for promotion of talents in individuals according to one’s interest and taste. He added β€œEvery individual is born with talent in a particular area. The secret of success is identifying one’s interest and providing scope for its development professionally.”
He cited examples how sportsperson earn in lakhs by signing contract.
While referring to the humble background of Manarsuk Chakma he remarked that no one should be judged by one’s family or economic background.

He urged the CADC authority to continue to maintain this kind of programme to inspire budding talents and achievers in different fields.
