Kamalanagar November 12:The National Education Day 2012 was celebrated, with great pomp, for the first time in Chakma Autonomous District Council today, organized by SSA Mission, Lawngtlai Disrict (CADC Area). This year the Day having fallen on Sunday the State of Mizoram announced the Day to be observed the next day, the 12th November.
            Last year, with the launching of the Shiksha ka Haq Abhiyan programme, the Govt. of India declared 11th November to be observed as the National Education Day every year, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of Independent india.
           The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Executive Member Sri Kali Kumar Tongchangya as Chief Guest and besides Executive member i/c Education (M/S) Dr. B. D. Chakma and Sub-Divisional Officer, Chawngte, Pu L. Rinliana also attended the function.
           In taking advantage of the Day the CEM, CADC urged the teacher community to give their best to make CADC a part of the 2020 vision of India.
           Pu L. Rinliana while referring to the poor literacy percentage of the area at 38.23%, as per census 2011, invited all the stake holder parents, teachers, students and leaders to resolve to make CADC at par with rest of the state in terms of achievement in the field of education. He wanted all the local people to believe that the educational institutions within CADC area are capable of producing talents without depending on schools outside.
