Aizawl, July 27, 2026: The Hon’ble Minister, i/c Health & Family Welfare, Social Welfare, and Women & Child Development, Government of Mizoram, Pi Lalrinpuii, has assured to consider several proposals put forward by the Honβble Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), Dg. Nirupam Chakma, to strengthen healthcare services in the CADC area, during a meeting with the Minister at her office in Aizawl today.

The Honβble CEM thanked the Minister for the recent deployment of two MBBS doctors, one each at Borapansury PHC and Longpuighat PHC. He also requested that the Chawngte CHC at Kamalanagar be upgraded into a District Hospital. In response, the Minister said the CHC could be considered for upgradation to a 50-bedded Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The Minister further said that she plans to visit the Chawngte CHC and the PHCs at Borapansury and Longpuighat after the rainy season. She asked the CEM, along with CADC Chairman Kali Kumar Tongchangya, to visit the two PHCs in the meantime and assess their condition.
The CEM apprised the Minister of the transfer of the Ophthalmic Assistant from Chawngte CHC and requested that a replacement be posted.
The Minister also assured that the deployment of a Mobile Medical Unit for the CADC area would be looked into and that two ambulances, one each for Borapansury PHC and Longpuighat PHC, would also be considered.
