Aizawl Chakma House Annex Building Inaugurated

Aizawl, March 7: The new Annex Building to the Chakma House at Aizawl, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.1.44 Crore, was inaugurated today by the Honโ€™ble Chief Minister, Mizoram Pu Lal Thanhawla in presence of Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya, Honโ€™ble Chief Executive Member, Chakma Autonomous District Council.

The Honโ€™ble Chief Minister was accompanied by Pu Zodintluanga, Honโ€™ble Sports Minister, Dangu Nihar Kanti Chakma, Honble Minister, Disaster Management and Pu Lal Khama, Vice Chairman, State Planning Board. Pu Lal Thanhawla while speaking on the occasion as its Chief Guest said CADC witnessed widespread developments during this current term.

The new building shall ease the pressure for ever increasing demand for accommodation by visitors from CADC and other Chakma inhabited areas of Mizoram. The visitors mainly come to the city for official purposes and better medical services. Besides, the House also serves as transit point for students studying outside the State. The opening up of the Building for the services of the General public is in addition to the two floors added to the old Building last year which were already opened up for public access.

The Annex Building whose construction started during the last part of 2010, took two years and six months to complete. The Building has a plinth area of 193 Sq. m. with four floors providing rooms for two dormitories for male and female, six double rooms, four VIP rooms and an office cum reception room. The funding for the construction was done out of CADC Anuual Plan Fund.
