Kamalanagar, 06 January, 2026: A meeting was held today at the CADC Conference Hall to discuss and finalize the proposal for opening a Mizo Language Learning Centre at Kamalanagar in Chakma Autonomous District Council.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Pronit Bikash Chakma, Executive Secretary, CADC, and attended by Shri Rasik Mohan Chakma, Hon’ble MLA, 36-Tuichawng Assembly Constituency; officials of the District School Education Board (DSEB); officers from the Education Department, CADC; Headmasters and Chairmen of Public School and Government Comprehensive Middle School, Kamalanagar-I; and representatives of the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (MCSU).

Addressing the meeting, Shri Rasik Mohan Chakma emphasized the growing importance of having working knowledge of Mizo language for candidates seeking employment under the Government of Mizoram. Keeping in view the continued relevance of Mizo language proficiency, the Hon’ble MLA stated that he has decided to contribute from his MLA-LAD Fund to establish a Mizo Language Learning Centre at Kamalanagar, primarily to prepare college students and educated youths for the Mizo Language Proficiency Test conducted by the Mizoram Board of School Education.
It was resolved in the meeting that the initiative would be implemented through coordinated efforts of the Hon’ble MLA, the CADC authority, and the MCSU. Accordingly, it was decided that the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (Central) would manage the Centre, while the Education Department (Primary and Middle School), CADC would provide necessary logistic support. The fund required to run the Centre, including payment of honorarium to the Mizo language teachers, will be provided by the Hon’ble MLA Shri Rasik Mohan Chakma out of his MLA-LAD Fund.
It was further decided that classes for the Mizo Language Learning Centre will be conducted at Public School, Kamalanagar-I. The Education Department, CADC will seek approval from the Deputy Commissioner, Lawngtlai, for allotment of two rooms of the school for this purpose.
