Governor extends Governorโ€™s Rule to address political instability within the Chakma Autonomous District Council

The Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram has extended the assumption of all functions and powers of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC). This decision was made in exercise of powers under Paragraph 16(2) read with Paragraph 20-BB of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, following the Governor’s assessment of frequent shifts in political allegiance and the pending results of an Inquiry Commission.

The Governorโ€™s Rule is extended for another period of six months or until further order, effective from January 7, 2026. The Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai District is designated to exercise these functions and powers on behalf of the Governor.
