Governor constitutes Inquiry Commission to probe administrative irregularities and political instability of CADC

The Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram has appointed the Deputy Commissioner of Lunglei to lead an Inquiry Commission into the Chakma Autonomous District Council. This decision was made using discretionary powers available to the Hon’ble Governor under paragraph 20-BB of the Sixth Schedule read with paragraph 14(1) of the Constitution of India.

The Commission will investigate four main issues over the next six months:

  • Illegal Recruitment: Whether hiring continued despite a strict 2023 moratorium.
  • Administrative Reports: Giving legal status to previous reports by a Chief Secretary-led Study Group and Shri Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy.
  • Political Instability: To look into the constant political instability and submit concrete proposal in the best interest of the public.

Detailed report alongwith recommendations should be submitted within a period of 6 (six) months.
