Kamalanagar, 21 July: Monsoon Session 2014 of 9th Chakma Autonomous District Council started today with the Honโble Chief Executive Member Dangu Buddha Lila Chakma presenting the second โVote on Accountโ for expenditure of the Council for the next four months i.e. August to November. Projected expenditure under Plan sector was for an amount of Rs.469.00 lakhs and Rs.1170.06 lakhs ย under Non-plan sector of normal grant-in-aid.
MDC By-election In CADC Boycotted – No Voters Turnout
Kamalanagar, 4 June 2014:The Bye-election to Borapansury-II MDC constituency in Chakma Autonomous District Council scheduled to be held today had no voters turn out. This is was in response to the peaceful boycott of the election called by all the NGOs in protest against the MZP putting up a signboard allegedly claiming a large portion the land (2500 sq. m.) already allotted to Civil Supply Department, Govt. of Mizoram as was stated in the representation of the NGOs.
43RD CADC DAY CELEBRATED
Kamalanagar, 29 April:Chakma Autonomous District Council completed 42 years of existence today since it was created in the year 1972 on 29th April. It was formed under the 6th Schedule to the Constitution of India by trifurcating the then Pwi-Lakher Regional Council into Lai Autonomous District Council, Mara Autonomous District Council and Chakma Autonomous District Council. The purpose of creating the Council has been really served, conferring the minority communities safeguard to protect, preserve and promote their cultural identity.
CADC Budget Session Conludes
Kamalanagar, 28 March:The CADC Budget Session which had its first sitting on 24th March concluded today with its second sitting. The Budget mover Honโble CEM, CADC Dangu Buddha Lila Chakma besides the Demand for Grants (Budget Estimates), 2014-15, placed the Supplementary Demand for the year 2013-14 and sought a Vote on Account on the Budget Estimates, 2014-15 to meet the essential expenditure for the first quarter period of the fiscal year. The regular Budget, he said, shall be passed at a later date when the Planning Commission finalizes the State Annual Plan of Mizoram for 2014-15.
The Governor Visits Kamalanagar
Kamalanagar, 1 March:His Excellency the Governor of Mizoram Shri Vakkom Purushothaman was in Kamalanagar today. This was his maiden visit to the Chakma Council since he became the Governor of Mizoram in 2011.
Executive Committee of CADC Formed
Kamalanagar, February 12:The Executive Committee of Chakma Autonomous District Council was formed today with the swearing in of five Members of the District Council as Executive Members. There was approval for six. Dangu Dayal Chandra Chakma who is among the six is away on tour to Delhi and therefore could not be sworn in. The other five who were sworn in today by the SDO(Civil), Chawngte are Dangu Amar Smriti Chakma, Dangu Susen Chakma, Dangu Sushil Kumar Chakma, Dangu Mohan Chakma and Dangu Ajoy Kumar Chakma.
Buddha Lila Chakma Sworn in as the Second New CEM of 9th CADC
Kamalanagar, January 22: Dangu Buddha Lila Chakma was sworn-in today as the new Chief Executive Member of Chakma Autonomous District Council. The wait is finally over. CADC has been without a Chief since the outgoing CEM Dangu Dr. Buddha Dhan Chakma had to resign on 7th January after he got elected as MLA, Mizoram in the last General Assembly Election held in November last year.
Baneswar Chakma Passes Away at 84
Kamalanagar, January 11: Dangu Baneswar Chakma, a veteran Chakma leader passed away yesterday at the age of 84 due to old age who has been lying in sick bed for quite a long time after he had a fall last year. He has spent the later part of his life in Nalbonya, a village near Kamalanagar, headquarter of CADC. He is survived by a son and a daughter.
Sneha Kumar Chakma former CEM, MLA breathed his last
Kamalanagar, December 17: Dangu Sneha Kumar Chakma, the veteran politician more popularly known as Berebussya, died at Lunglei yesterday, who had been battling asthma for quite a long time. Born in the year 1935 at Tipperaghat, he was the eldest son of ย Dangu Duloram and Dangubi Rangabi Chakma. He is survived by two sons and three daughters born to Dangubi Potya Mala Chakma and Dangubi Mayadevi Chakma.
Dr. B.D. Chakma, CEM, CADC Elected as MLA
Kamalanagar, 16 December:ย Dangu Dr. B.D. Chakma, the incumbent CEM, CADC who has contested in the Mizoram Assembly Election 2013 from 36-Tuichawng Assembly Constituency was elected defeating his rival Dangu Rasik Mohan Chakma by a margin of more than 7,000 votes.
