Chakma Council Passed Budget on Vote on Account (2016-17)

Kamalanagar, 17 July, 2015: The Monsoon session of Chakma Autonomous District Council which started on 15th concluded today. The sitting discussed and voted the Vote on Account on estimate of expenditure for the period upto October, 2015.

The Vote on Account presented on the first sitting on 15th made an estimate for an expenditure of Rs.981.71 Lakh and Rs.1751.83 Lakh under plan and non-plan sector respectively. A lion share of the estimate of Rs.2658.87 Lakh is for payment of salary to staff. Only a meager Rs.74.67 Lakh is left for disposal to take up administrative and developmental activities. Kamalanagar Town Bus Service Inaugurated

Kamalanagar, 16 July 2016: The much talked about Kamalanagar town bus service was finally kicked off by Dg. Kali Kumar Tongchangya, CEM, CADC from the premises of CADC secretariat.

The CEM and his colleague MDCs including officials and public took a first ride around the town to mark the inauguration of the service. The CEM while speaking on the occasion said the service will benefits all section of the people especially school and college going students.

โ€œThe parents shall be relieved of hefty taxi fare that gets incurred while dropping their children to schools and commuting between bazaar and home. Life for office goers who come from far corners of the town will be easy as well.โ€ย The two buses have been procured with fund provision from NITI Ayog.

Chakma Council Monsoon Session Starts

Kamalanagar, 15 July, 2015: The first session of the 9th Chakma Autonomous District Council for the current fiscal year started today. The full budget could not be presented because of non-receipt of budgetary allocation from the state Government in full. The CEM, CADC opted for a Vote on Account on estimates of expenditure for the period April to Octoberโ€™ 2015 for plan sector and for the period June to Octoberโ€™ 2015 for Non-plan sector. CEM, CADC Met Chief Manager, SBI Regional Office, Aizawl

ย Kamalanagar, 14 July 2016: The CEM, CADC Dg. Kali Kumar Tongchangya met the Chief Manager, SBI Regional Office regarding the deplorable services of the SBI Branch, Chawngte.

The Chief Manager confirmed about the letter from CADC wherein various issues relating to the services provided by their Branch at Kamalanagar were raised for redress. He informed that on receipt of the letter he proceeded for Kamalanagar but had to return from Mualbu where his vehicle got stuck in the mud. He said he felt very sorry that he almost reached Kamalanagar but yet he did not make it because of the road condition. The CEM was told that all the point raised in the letter were seriously taken and accordingly measures have been initiated. He asked to report again if services donโ€™t get improved. CADC Authority and NGOs Reached A Consensus On The Various Demand Being Made By the NGOs

Kamalanagar, 14 July 2016: The CADC authority and the NGOs finally clinched a consensus over the various demands the NGOs (YCA and MCSU) have been pressing the CADC government to accede to.

Consensus was reached only after two meetings held for two consecutive days from 14/7/2016. The first meeting did not yield much of any significance. Chakma Council Dismisses The Apprehension Of MCSU and YCA

Kamalanagar, 10 July, 2016: Chakma Autonomous District Council dismisses the apprehension expressed by Mizoram Chakma Student Union and Young Chakma Association for having made about 40 appointments on contractual and MR basis as published in the Vanglaini (Issue dated 9/7/2016).

All the appointments so made so far are either on master roll or contractual basis. Making appointment on contractual and master roll basis, from time to time, according to needs, is a normal practice of any government. Such appointments are very temporary in nature and are done for time being. For instance some 11 persons have been engaged on master roll basis as sweepers for a pay of Rs.3000/- per month to maintain cleanliness of Kamalanagar town. 2 persons have been engaged on MR fixed basis in the ITI and Dawchuni cum Mineral water plant. Labourers under PWD are engaged from time to on the basis of requirement for a specific time period as and when there are civil works. The concerns of the NGOs are all unfounded. Continue reading →

Meeting Relating To Issues of 3 ADCs Held

Aizawl, 1 July 2016: A meeting on the direction of the Governor of Mizoram to address the myriad concerns of the three Autonomous District Councils was held at Secretariat Conference Room, New Secretariat Complex under the Chairmanship of Secretary to District Council & Minority Affairs Department, Mizoram Pu Biaktluanga. The meeting was attended by Secretary to Governor, Executive Secretaries of Lai, Mara and Chakma Autonomous District Councils, Liaison Officers of the three Councils and Officers from the District Council & Minority Affairs Department. CADC Censor Committee Screens Video Album

Kamalanagar, 14 June 2016: The CADC Censor Committee for the first time screened a video album, titled โ€œHoshpana Monsaapโ€ produced by Dangubi Rita Chakma. The screening found objection with two shots in the title song of the album being vulgar and imposed cuts.

The meeting of the Committee decided to draft a guideline based on which the screening will be conducted. All private as well government albums, documentary, film etc. produced in CADC will be subjected to screening before mass production for circulation or sale. All such works must bear the certification from the Censor Committee before their release whose display will be mandatory.

Kamalanagar, 14 June 2016: In a meeting with all the local NGOs including that of Chawngte L and Chawngte P, town area VCPs, SDO, (Civil), Chawngte and OC, Police Station, Chawngte in the office chamber of CEM, CADC the route and the fare for the Kamalanagar town bus service were fixed. The meeting was chaired by Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya, CEM, CADC. CADC has procured two buses for providing passenger service within Kamalanagar town and adjacent villages.

Approach Road to New Kamalanagar College Building Blacktopped

Kamalanagar, 13 June 2016: Blacktopping of the approach road to new Kamalanagar College building, located at Aratinagar, has been completed with fund provision under additional plan fund 2015-16. A amountย of Rs.80.00 Lakh hadย been sanctioned for the work.ย The CEM, CADC Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya inaugurated the road on 13 June 2016.

The new Kamalanagar college building has been completed a few years back with fund provision under NLCPR. It was constructed at an estimated cost of 224.00 Lakh. The approach road being katcha was one the reasons why the new building could not be occupied. The new building is also without electrification and water connection. These basic requirements have to be provided before the College can be shifted.

The CEM, CADC while speaking on the occasion said that the DPR for the Block-B has been prepared. He said, โ€˜This time we will ensure the class rooms size are big enoughโ€™. He made this remark in view of the small size of the class room in the newly built structure.
