New Delhi, 3 September 2026:The Honโble Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), Shri Nirupam Chakma, today visited the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) in New Delhi and met senior officials of the Commission.

During his visit, Shri Nirupam Chakma held discussions with senior officials, including Shri Amit Nirmal, Joint Secretary, Dr. P. Kalyan Reddy, Director, and Shri K. D. Verma, Deputy Secretary, NCST.
The officials briefed the Honโble CEM on the initiatives being undertaken by the Commission for the review of the Fifth and Sixth Schedules of the Constitution, as part of the preparation of a Special Report to be submitted to the Honโble President of India. He was also briefed on various activities and programmes being undertaken by the NCST for the protection of constitutional safeguards and promotion of the welfare and development of Scheduled Tribes across the country.
Shri Nirupam Chakma also took a tour of the Commissionโs office and interacted with officers and staff members of various sections. He encouraged them to continue discharging their responsibilities with dedication and sincerity towards the welfare, rights and development of the Scheduled Tribes.


This was Shri Nirupam Chakmaโs first visit to the NCST after his resignation as a Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to take up the office of Chief Executive Member of the CADC.
The visit was an emotional and nostalgic moment for Shri Nirupam Chakma, as he had served as a Member of the Commission and had closely worked with its officers and staff in advancing the interests and constitutional safeguards of Scheduled Tribes. He expressed his appreciation to the officials and staff of the Commission for their continued commitment to the cause of Scheduled Tribes and conveyed his best wishes for their future endeavours.
