Shri Kali Kumar Tongchangya elected uncontested as Chairman of the 11th CADC

Kamalanagar, 16 July, 2026: Shri Kali Kumar Tongchangya, Member of District Council (MDC) representing the 18-Fultuli MDC Constituency, was today declared elected uncontested as the Chairman of the 11th Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC). The declaration was made by the Deputy Chairman, Shri Sundor Muni Chakma, who chaired todayโ€™s sitting to elect the Chairman.

The election was held to fill the vacancy arising out of the resignation of the former Chairman, Shri Lakkhan Chakma on 1 July, 2025. As per the notified election schedule, nomination papers were received on 15 July 2026. Shri Kali Kumar Tongchangya was the only candidate to file his nomination. Consequently, in todayโ€™s sitting he was declared elected uncontested as the Chairman of the 11th Chakma Autonomous District Council.

After assuming office, Shri Kali Kumar Tongchangya thanked the Members of the District Council for the confidence reposed in him. He stated that he would discharge the responsibilities of the Chair with fairness, impartiality and in accordance with the Rules governing the Council. He also sought the cooperation of all Members in upholding the dignity of the House and ensuring the smooth conduct of its proceedings.

Leader of the House and Honโ€™ble Chief Executive Member, Shri Nirupam Chakma, also congratulated Shri Kali Kumar Tongchangya on his election as Chairman. He expressed confidence that the newly elected Chairmanโ€™s extensive experience in the Council and sound knowledge of its functioning would greatly benefit the House. He further hoped that under the new Chairman’s guidance, the proceedings of the House would continue to be conducted in a fair, impartial and orderly manner, enabling all Members to exercise their rights freely and contribute effectively to the functioning of the house.
