Aizawl, July 27, 2026:<\/strong> The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), Dg. Nirupam Chakma, today called on the Governor of Mizoram, His Excellency General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.), at Lok Bhavan to discuss the Council’s long-term development strategy and several issues requiring the attention of the State Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the CEM presented an outline of a development plan, including policy measures to streamline the administration of the CADC. The plan was prepared based on proposals received from all departments of the CADC. The Governor, while going through each and every item, appreciated the initiative and offered several suggestions. He advised the Council to incorporate the suggestions and give the plan its final shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other things, the CEM also apprised the Governor of the new CADC Secretariat building, which was taken up with funding under the 13th Finance Commission but has remained incomplete for more than a decade. The Governor advised that a detailed presentation be submitted so that he could pursue financial assistance under an appropriate Centrally Sponsored Scheme for its completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The issue of unpaid salaries of CADC employees for the past four and a half months also came up during the discussion. The Governor informed the CEM that he had already taken up the matter with the Chief Minister of Mizoram and had advised that appropriate measures be taken to resolve the issue.
The Governor further advised the CADC to identify a suitable plot of land for the establishment of a Central School within the CADC area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CEM also submitted a representation expressing concern over the prolonged delay in granting assent to several Rules passed by the Chakma Autonomous District Council since 2016. He requested the Governor to look into the matter, particularly the Town Planning Committees Rules, 2025, which are awaiting assent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
