Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram has assumed all powers and functions of CADC vide Notification No. A.43016\/3\/2023-DC&MA(C)\/Pt. dated Aizawl the 7th<\/sup> July 2025<\/a>.<\/em> It was extended further vide Notification No. A.43016\/3\/2023-DC&MA(C) dated Aizawl the 12th<\/sup> January 2026<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chakma Autonomous District Council is an autonomous council for ethnic Chakma people, formed under the sixth schedule to the Constitution of India on April 29, 1972. The Council exercises legislative, executive and judiciary powers over allotted departments within the territory of CADC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an area of 686.25 square kilometers, CADC shares international boundaries with Bangladesh and Myanmar and has a population of 62,094 which roughly constitutes half of the total ethnic Chakma population in Mizoram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CADC is headquartered at Kamalanagar and is headed by the Chief Executive Member (CEM) and Executive Members (EMs). The Council has a total of 24 Members of District Council (MDCs), out of which 20 are elected from the 20 MDC constituencies of the CADC area and the rest 4 are nominated by the Governor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dg. Sundor Muni Chakma was elected as Deputy Chairman of the Chakma Autonomoud District Council on 12\/06\/2023. He performs the functions of the Chairman, CADC since the resignation of Dg. Lakkhan Chakma<\/em> on 01\/07\/2025<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
