MLA Rasik Mohan Chakma Visits CHC Chawngte; Donates โ‚น1 Lakh to Poor Fund

Kamalanagar, 29 December, 2025: Rasik Mohan Chakma, MLA, 36-Tuichawng Assembly Constituency and Member of District Council (MDC), Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), visited the Community Health Centre (CHC), Chawngte, today. He was accompanied by Shri Purna Chandra Chakma, District President, MNF District Headquarters, Kamalanagar; Shri H. Amaresh Chakma, former Chairman, CADC; and Smt. Sona Chakma, MDC.

During the visit, the MLA distributed financial assistance and food to patients undergoing treatment at the CHC. He also donated an amount of โ‚น1 lakh to the CHC Chawngte Poor Fund to support economically disadvantaged patients who are unable to meet medical treatment expenses.

An interaction was held with the medical staff at the CHC Conference Hall, during which the MLA stated that the contribution was made with the objective of assisting the poorest sections of society. He also emphasised the need to create public awareness about the existence of the Poor Fund at CHC Chawngte so that more individuals and organisations may be encouraged to contribute. He further expressed his intention to explore the establishment of a medicine bank at CHC Chawngte to benefit needy patients.

During the interaction, medical officers highlighted that several economically weak families possess Above Poverty Line (APL) cards despite being Below Poverty Line (BPL), which renders them ineligible for various healthcare schemes. The MLA assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authorities.

The medical officers also apprised the MLA of inadequate infrastructure in the maternity ward and the need for its upgradation. In this regard, the MLA contacted the Chief Medical Officer, Lawngtlai, and requested that necessary steps be taken. He referred to the funds earlier sought from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) during the tenure of Dr. Lalthangliana, former Health Minister of Mizoram, and requested that priority be given to CHC Chawngte.

Notification inviting applications from empanelled advocates w.r.t. Vaseitlang and Damdep-II BoPs

The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) is seeking advocates to handle legal matters regarding the Vaseitlang and Damdep-II BOPs. Applicants must have at least six years of High Court experience. Responsibilities include representing the CADC before the Supreme Court, Gauhati High Court, and District Courts. Interested candidates must submit their bio-data and documents by December 29, 2025. Terms of service and fees will be governed by a formal agreement.

One-Day Teachersโ€™ Seminar on Educational Reforms in CADC Concluded

Kamalanagar, 11 December 2025: A one-day Teachersโ€™ Seminar on Educational Reforms in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), conducted under the theme โ€œBuilding a Strong Academic Foundationโ€, was held on 10 December 2025 at the Art & Culture Hall, Kamalanagar. The programme was organised by the Middle School Education Department, CADC, and witnessed participation from a large number of teachers from across the CADC.

The inaugural session was attended by Shri Rasik Mohan Chakma, Honโ€™ble MLA, 36-Tuichawng (ST) Assembly Constituency, as Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by Shri Roimanekyo Chakma, Secretary, DSEB CADC; Shri Durjoy Chakma, Retired Education Officer, CADC; Shri Buddhankur Chakma, Senior Finance & Accounts Officer, CADC; and Shri Sadanand Chakma, District Transport Officer, CADC, as Guests of Honour and Special Guest.

In his address, the Chief Guest highlighted the major issues affecting the education sector in CADC and stressed the need for collective effort to achieve practical reforms. He urged the teaching community to remain dedicated and proactive in addressing challenges and noted that sincere effort, even with limited resources, can contribute significantly to improving educational outcomes.

The dignitaries present also shared observations on existing challenges and offered suggestions for strengthening administrative functioning, improving teaching-learning processes, and ensuring accountability at various levels.

A detailed PowerPoint presentation was delivered by Shri Milon Chakma, Assistant Education Officer, Middle School Education Department. The presentation provided an overview of the current educational scenario, highlighting infrastructural gaps, academic challenges, and administrative constraints. This was followed by an interactive session in which teachers shared their views, experiences, and recommendations. The organisers stated that similar initiatives would continue as part of efforts to support long-term improvements in the education sector.

NCW Member Smt. Delina Khongdup Visits Kamalanagar; Addresses Awareness Programme on Cyber Security

Kamalanagar, 01 December 2025: Smt. Delina Khongdup, Honโ€™ble Member, National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi, visited Kamalanagar on Saturday (29 November 2025) as part of her official tour to Mizoram. During the visit, she attended an awareness programme on โ€œCyber Security and Role of NCW in Empowerment of Womenโ€ as Chief Guest. The programme was organised by the Chakma Mahila Samiti (CMS).

The programme was attended by officials of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), members of the Chakma Mahila Samiti, local NGOs, students, and the general public.

In her address, the Chief Guest stated that the NCW is committed to promoting the welfare of women and ensuring the protection of their rights. She spoke on issues relating to cyber safety, responsible use of digital platforms, and measures available through the NCW for addressing cyber-related grievances. She also stressed the need for awareness and community-level efforts in ensuring the safety and empowerment of women in the digital space.

An interactive session was held, during which participants were given the opportunity to raise questions and seek clarifications related to cyber security and the support mechanisms available.
